Utah trip

A few weeks ago we made a quick trip up to Utah to help Reas' grandma celebrate her 90th birthday.

She's the sweetest little thing. Try as she might she couldn't handle the noise of 30 people (including lots of very loud kids) singing happy birthday at the top of their lungs.  The poor woman was actually plugging her ears!

We love Grandma Cramer.  Even at 90, she is always concerned for others, making sure they're comfortable and well taken care of.

We went to BYU campus to reminisce about how cool we were and how all the other college kids wanted to be like us...that's what I remember anyway.  The kids ran around, having a great time.   Cougar blood runs thick through our veins, therefore the brainwashing starts young.  We found this book at the bookstore on clearance.  We thought it would be great for bedtime.  You know, get the kids dreaming about their future BYU days.  Let me just say, the cute book was absolutely in the right place being on clearance.

Don't get me wrong, it's totally cool to have a book about the Cosmo written by the LaVell Edwards, but in my humble opinion he was an awesome football coach, not so much a great writer of children's books.   I don't regret buying it though.   Only a true cougar fan has "Hello, Cosmo!" in her book collection.

By sheer coincidence, the Astrofest was going on while we were strolling around campus.  Doesn't that sound so...so astronomical?  There were spacey activities and experiments going on all over campus.

Ty's favorite activity - launching his homemade rocket.  Over and over and over.  And it still wasn't enough.

Reas got into it too.

Maggie would've scaled Mars' volcano (a rock wall) all day if she could.  This girl is a born climber.

And Claire was content to watch and be cute.

Then of course just as I was searching for the perfect picture spot for a family picture, my camera battery died.  Why does that always happen?  No big deal I thought.  The next day we'd be getting real, professional, beautiful outdoor pictures taken by my super talented friend, Shannon.

But since things don't always work out the way we plan, we woke up to this:

A full blown snow storm. In May.  With pictures rescheduled for next time, the kids happily went out to play...in their shirts and sandals.  Such a great mom I am.

So, not one single family picture to show, but lots of fun memories.
